Throwback Thursday – Celebrity Encounters

Hey Folks!

Happy Small Friday…aka Thursday.  Yes…I am still trying to make the whole #SmallFriday thing happen….

But I digress…that is not what this post is about.  It is about celebrity encounters.  I have been lucky enough to have odd celebrity encounters both in my home of Winnipeg and when traveling.

One of my more recent celebrity encounters was last year at Dumbo Double Dare–both Karen and I were walking to the Expo in Downtown Disney in Anaheim, when the super secret, formerly free Run Disney Meet Up let out…and out came Joey Fatone of N’Sync and Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings, Goonies, Rudy, etc.  Karen bee-lined to Joey and I got a pic with Sean Astin.

P.S. I sorta love my hair here…can’t believe it lasted that long in the heat and humidity….proof…here’s a pick of me and Karen once we finally got into that crazy expo….after waiting in line outside for well over an hour.  Oh and if you are ever lucky enough to meet Karen–she is the most wonderful person and her husband is the most helpful guy around! 🙂  I feel so lucky to have met them at DDD last year and I hope to schedule a chance to run into them at GSC in February! 🙂

Much Love,

  1. I randomly saw Sean Astin during the DDD too! No pictures though. I was having dinner at Carthay Circle and he was eating there too. First I saw him “checking in” and then he was at the table right near ours! I was told I should say hi to him, he’s really nice, but I was nervous (come on, he’s RUDY!) and I didn’t want to bother him. Maybe next year at the DDD 🙂

      • Yes actually! Hubs and I were discussing it. We have a newborn niece in Oregon and were talking about visiting her, so we figured we’d try and do a West Coast vacation next year, which would of course HAVE to include Disneyland…and therefore DDD 🙂

      • Ugh! Sounds awesome! So jealous! DHM was my first Disney race and I’ve PR’d at it twice so it always has a special place in my heart…plus it is just after my birthday, which makes it even more awesome! 🙂 Oh and congrats on the newborn niece! 🙂

  2. How exciting! Goonies was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Several years ago, I was working near Astoria, OR and made a pilgrimage with some of my coworkers to the Goonies House. Kind of lame, but we got a kick out of it.

  3. That is a GREAT picture of you with Sean! I met him at the formerly free Tink meetup and he was such a nice guy to chat with. I usually don’t know what to say when I meet celebrities so I don’t say anything but I actually had a nice conversation with him. 🙂

    • I’m so glad to hear he is a good guy, Mer. It’s funny how celebrities seem to be on really far sides of the pendulum–they are either great and chatty or horrible. My aussie friend and I met Heidi Klum about 8 years ago in Beverly Hills and she was the nicest person ever. She chatted with us for about 20 minutes.
