Pain in the Neck

So Lindsey has whiplash….and I appear to have pinched a nerve in my neck. I haven’t slept and can barely breath because it causes me too much pain.  My dad thinks it is due to being outside in the cold during my race on Sunday.  I tend to tense up when I am cold and he thinks I just over did it and now things have seized up.  I managed to work through it yesterday, with tears in my eyes, but I couldn’t do it again with the added complication of no sleep.

Needless to say, I’m sick of not being able to move, breathe, sleep, run, etc.  This thing needs to loosen up so that I can run in Fargo on the weekend.  I am hoping that this thing finally passes in the next 24 hours.

On the plus side, this weird “injury” of sorts is giving me permission to just (painfully) do nothing–which is one small benefit of this whole not being able to move, breathe, sleep, run thing.  Right now I am watching the Little Mermaid, with a heating bad on my shoulder/neck, sipping tea and typing this with one hand on my iPhone (so my apologies for grammatical errors).  I am also conducting a little bit of research for some of the trips I have planned over the next several months (both work and pleasure).  I have found three races to do (in Ottawa, ON; St.Paul, MN and Honolulu, HI), some neat tours in Hawaii-one for photography and one fo surfing the North Shore.

Anyway, I am going to try and make myself something to eat and maybe get some sleep after that, should my neck allow for it.  Take care and happy Tuesday everyone!

  1. Eek. This is a year of horrible health issues.

On the upside, you are watching The Little Mermaid.
And maybe this can be a good excuse to get a massage to work out the kink or do acupuncture to relieve some pressure?

    Wishing you well!

    • I agree. Necks serve no purpose. Amazing how much it hurt to laugh, breathe, etc. Fortunately things are turning around today…lol. I might even be able to drive and laugh by the end of the day today.

  2. Oh no! Hope you feel better soon! Although, I am admittedly jealous of your recovery right now: Little Mermaid + heating pad+ planning trip to Hawaii? Yeah, I kinda hate you a little…but I mean that in the nicest possible way! 🙂

    • It was a nice recovery! Wish I was doing it again today, but with Aladdin or Finding Nemo perhaps! Lol!

And Hawaii is going to be amazing…especially flying out to Hawaii directly from Disney World. I can’t wait!

      • Hah! It sorta worked out well (though financially it would’ve been nice to have the trips spaced out a bit). I honestly can’t wait for these adventures to happen. I’m going to be like a kid at Christmas come October 1!
