Lazy Days Ahead

Argh!  Just when I was ready to get back in the gym and on the pavement and into the healthy parts of the grocery store…this happens.

…I’m the white one.  The poor guy in the van claims that he tried to brake, but his brakes didn’t work, and so he ploughed into me like a runaway train.  …With his terrified wife, 3 little boys, and a brand new baby in the car with him, I might add.  Thankfully, the accident happened about 2 blocks away from a hospital.  Also thankfully, no one needed to go there.  But, that’s not to say that I’m feeling completely healthy, unfortunately.

I went on Monday to get assessed for insurance purposes and apparently I have a grade 2 Whiplash Associated Disorder.  Super.  In a positive light, that means I get 21 treatments of my choice paid for right away to begin getting better – chiro, physio, massage, and/or acupuncture.  But on the flip side…No running.  No lifting heavy.  No intense cardio.  No isometric movements.  Wow, that just took away ALL the things that I like – running, lifting, yoga…  So, I’m a bit of a sour person right now.

I’m still going to the gym this week because I AM allowed to lift light, but that almost feels more demeaning than not going at all.  Oh, I can only put 135 on the bar, you say?! That’s ridiculous. That’s not me. I don’t want to do that!!  But I’m trying just to go and do the rehab and work through it.

Anyway, that’s my rant for the day before I head out for massage.  If you see a bunch of N/As on my Weekly Workout Wednesday, that’s what’s up.

  1. Bummer! But it sounds like the other driver’s insurance company took care of you very quickly. From everyone I know who has been in that situation before, you lucked out with that.

  2. Oh man!! So sorry to hear about your bad luck. And you’re allowed to vent/rant. That’s what blogging is for! Best of Luck! I hope you feel better. I would definitely feel like as much of a sour person as you are right now! Keep your chin up!

  3. Oh no! Hope you have a speedy recovery, but be patient! Don’t end up taking yourself out for longer because you were eager to get back into the workouts. And enjoy those massages! …if that’s the treatment you choose šŸ™‚
