Run Club Recap

It has been awhile since I have updated on my Run Club.  The group are all doing well and slowly but surely improving, which is very, very satisfying.   The experienced runners are increasing their speeds.  The intermediate runners have built up their base to 35 minutes and the new runners are slowly increasing their run intervals and decreasing their walk intervals.  The one injured runner we have is making progress with her 18 month battle with plantar fasciitis and will be medically allowed to run at the end of this month.  Needless to say, I am thrilled and have already booked a run-date with her for her first run en route to the Princess Weekend in 2015.

My love for this group continues to grow every week.  The showed up for training when I couldn’t be there last week because of my grandfather’s passing and they ensured they ran extra hard to make me proud.  They are also excited for our group trip together, to run Disney and to make those memories together.  It’s a special thing and I’m so appreciative of their trust in me to help them train and their belief that they can run these races and achieve their goals.

Most of the group is running their first race of the season on June 1–it’s a run out of our gym called Commit to Get Fit.  It’s a 5K or a 10K.  Me and several other team members are doing the 10K, while a few others are racing the 5K.  I’m so excited for them and can’t wait to congratulate them on their accomplishments at the finish.

My only worry/fear now is getting us registered for the races.  We are likely to have 2-3 Glass Slipper Challengers, 4-6 10Ks and a handful of 5Ks.  I have contacted a few travel agents about getting spots and their recommendation to me has been, and I quote “sign up on opening day.”  Umm…yeah…I got that much.  Problem is that I am going to have to try to sign up a number of people at the same time…not just me.  If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.  I would hate to have only some of us get in for this race, when everyone has been working so hard.

    Excellent.

    Alas, I’m still not supposed to do anything cuz I apparently sprained my Achilles. Ugh. 4-5 weeks off but I think I exacerbated it cuz I didn’t know what had happened. Oh well. In the meantime, I’m hungry all the time!!! SUPER.

      Bummer on the Achilles–ack…such a bad spot to injure. I am sending you all of my healing vibes my friend. Hopefully you will be back in action sooner rather than later!

      As for hungry–I will take it from you–slowly but surely my appetite is coming back…and the difference in my mood is noticeable. lol. 🙂
