One of THOSE Days

Even though I’m only a few hours into the day–I know it’s going to be one of “THOSE” days.  And I know you all know what I mean.

Mmm...key lime pie!

Mmm…key lime pie!

First off, I woke up thinking it was Friday.  Ugh.

Second, I woke up early to finish off a pie for work.  Due to some other dramas I don’t want to get into, I snagged a ride with my dad to work–he noticed said pie and made a comment about how it didn’t match my usual standards and that I essentially shouldn’t have bothered if I wasn’t going to try (typically I pimp out my key lime pie with piped whipped cream like so — see right).  I didn’t this time–mostly because I had to get up half an hour earlier to finish it to bring it to work today….  Double ugh.

Third, it is so dark now.  One of the benefits of living in Winnipeg in the summer is the long days…sometimes the sun doesn’t start to set until 10:30pm and it’s up at 5am–it is glorious.  Unfortunately, that also means that we get less and less sunlight as we get closer to winter, when at it’s worst, you get about 7-9 hours of sunlight.  It has done rather unfortunate things to my energy levels and led me to a few bags of chips this week…and yes, I am aware that chips aren’t the answer–I am finally out of chips and plan on keeping them out of my home.  Triple ugh.

And though I anticipate my day will have a few more “ugh” moments before it gets better, I am going to try and focus on a few of the good things about today.

1.  I am going to get to eat some yummy pie…regardless of how the whip cream looks, I know it will be delicious.

2. I have a very pleasant version of DOMS thank to my personal training session with Lindsay Hamel yesterday.  She designed a PR plan focusing on glutes, hamstrings, core, (to build endurance) and shoulders and back (to improve my running posture).

3. I have made a date to meet two friends at the gym for spin class on Saturday morning–there is no wimping out now…which makes me happy…even though I don’t want to get up on Saturday morning. 😉

Are you having one of THOSE days?  Are you having a great day? What’s making it great or dreadful? Let me know in the comments what is going down with you in your part of the world today! 🙂

  1. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Making a pie is reward enough regardless of whipping cream bling.

Today actually seems …dare I say… Good. Got plans up the wazoo and realized my weekends are booked until November. Wtf. But some problems are good to have.

Hope your day goes better but if it doesn’t…tomorrow is another day!

    • LOL. I said the exact same thing to my dad after his comment on my non-blingy pie. Fortunately, once I left work, the doldrums went away and I had a pretty great night that included a great run and watching World War Z. 🙂

I’m glad to hear that you had a good day–and I agree–though it is a bit of bummer to have weekends booked til November, it is a good problem to have. 🙂 My October is booked solid, but my plans over the next few weekends aren’t too bad–thank goodness.
