I did my last big workout for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge this weekend. I did a “fast for me” 10K that I kept an 8:04/mile pace for (which, if I was racing, would’ve been a PR) on Saturday followed by a 10 miler on Sunday that I ran an 8:29 avg pace for, which if it was race day and I was able to keep it up for the extra 3.1, would also be a PR. These runs were also completed without any post run pain–no shin splints like last week–no sore knees…no seized calf muscles. That alone was a HUGE relief.
I can’t believe that race weekend is just around the corner. I have one more longish run of 9 miles scheduled on Friday, which will mark not only the start of my 33rd year on this planet but ,more importantly, my taper (I start a week before–I find two weeks is too long and it makes me sluggish). Now I just need to stay injury free and keep my clumsies away for the next 11 days….hey…it could happen. lol.
I also decided to do a “sorta” costume for the Disneyland Half-Marathon (DHM). Right now I have the lovely Minnie Mouse skirt that Princess Lindsey made for me, as well as some Minnie Ear barrettes I purchased when I ran the DHM the first time back in 2010 (at right).
For the DHM, I am going as a pseudo Cheshire Cat. :) I have pre-purchased a great t-shirt for expo pick up from one of the DHM Fitness Expo exhibitors, Raw Threads, that glows in the dark and has a Cheshire Cat decal on the front and back. Then…I found myself in Lululemon and found these great, Cheshire Cat inspired tights….so now I have a sorta costume for the half and a proper costume for the 10K. YAY!
Do you wear costumes for races? Do you have any costumes planned for DDD or any other future Disney race? Do you have an event coming up that you are excited for?
